Salmon jumpin'

Snapped this photo last fall in Port Hope, Ontario. It was the only salmon I saw jump all day so I'm glad I managed to get a shot of it.

Another shot of the lake just before sunset. Can you see the fisherman on the ice?

Skating on the Canal

This pic was taken last year. Hopefully the world's largest outdoor skating rink will open in time for the Winterlude '06 next week. I'm sure it will. (grin)

Some spring colour

Personally I love winter and I love snow but I do understand that many of you out there (or is it just me reading this?) might be getting anxious for warmer weather. Well here's a little splash of spring colour to warm you up in the meantime.

Snowshoeing with the kids after yesterday's mini-blizzard. Breathtaking.

Heavy snowfall

I love snow. Let's just hope it stays this time and doesn't turn into rain or freezing rain again.

Lines in the sky

Another sunset shot. Imagine these high wires after the ice storm of 1998.

Train train number 9

Snapped this pic shortly after noon on Sunday. I wanted to take some more interesting photos but it was -28°C with the windchill and I was running late for another kind of train.

Friday the 13th and a full winter moon...

Snapped off a few pics last night while out on a night raid with some fellow geocachers. Beautiful winter's night.

Nearly frozen pond

Taken at my parent's farm near Peterborough. And nope, don't know what made the footprints and don't know what made the hole either.

Where cows fear to tread

Why the title? Well in the Netherlands farmers use a set up similiar to this rather than actual gates to keep cows penned in. The system consists of steel bars spaced just far enough apart to discourage the cow from crossing and breaking a leg. And who said cows were stupid?

Welcome to Canada, eh!

Let's start things off with a winter wonderland theme. Feel free to add links to your favourite winter foto if you have one.

The fotoblog begins...

Over the past 10 years I have taken tens of thousands of photos. Whether I was out hiking, camping, biking, canoeing, camping, x-c skiing, snowshoeing, fishing, geocaching. Today I thought that I would start sharing some of these snapshots with the "connected" world. I encourage your comments.

PS: And since I'm still learning how to use my camera and what exactly it's doing when I push that button, I encourage advice or comments on the technical aspects of photography as well.

Let the photo journey begin...
